About Kelston Guest House Weymouth

Karen and Martin welcome you to their family run guest house for B and B near Weymouth seafront . Both being born and raised locally, we believe that is what set us apart from other guest house’s with extensive local knowledge. We are passionate about our home town, the beautiful beaches, coves, countryside, coastal walks, local places to explore and enjoy, whether you are here for a night or a week.

Welcome to our home. Our guests comfort and enjoyment, is at the forefront of everything we do.

As a family, we took a brave step back in 2007 to run a bed and breakfast in our home town of Weymouth. Martin worked previously in the NHS as a Charge Nurse in A&E, at Dorset County Hospital. Karen had worked over the years within tourism industry and over 10 years experience as a Customer Services Manager for Debenhams.

We purchased Kelston House in January 2007, a grade II listed Victorian town house, built in 1860. At the time, it was being run as a self catering holiday home but it had been a guest house prior to this, dating back to the 1920’s. The property was in need of sympathetic renovation and full decoration. Kelston Guest House is our on-going project of love, constantly being updated to meet our guests expectations as times change.

Our guiding principle from the start was to offer guests good quality accommodation, with an excellent breakfast, using locally sourced produce but at affordable prices. This is still our ethos, even though the business has changed and developed over the years. We still believe that it is a prerequisite that a quality bed and breakfast must have good local knowledge, high standard of decor, a warm friendly welcome and a delicious breakfast. We believe this mantra makes Kelston Guest House special.

Expectations and demands have certainly changed since we opened in 2007.  However, we strive to offer that ‘Home from Home’ feel.  We have made the decision to offer a traditional guest house ideology, offering a complimentary breakfast, parking, daily room service and face to face check in. However, our guest house is far from traditional, we definitely have no chintz.

Over the years, Martin has discovered a talent for using washed up beach materials, such as glass, driftwood, rope and turned it in to works of art, that we display around the guest house, for decoration and to sell. Giving us a unique talking point with our guests, every piece of artwork has a story.  We have five unique rooms, some say quirky, reading the room descriptions before booking to ensure you book a room sutiable for your needs.

Please remember, BOOK DIRECT AND SAVE MONEY! We do not offer any discounts or deals via Booking.com or other such sites due to the high commission fees they charge. For the lowest price and better service, book direct with us.
